    ALLURE CHRONO british racing green

Depancel has been chosen to become Watch Sponsor of the Masters Historic Racing Series during the Silverstone 2024 Festival. This partnership embodies our shared passion for precision, excellence and the heritage of motor racing. To mark the event, we have decided to produce a limited edition of 150 pieces of the Allure Manual Chronograph 39 mm.

    So Racing , So british

A watch with an assertive character, the Allure Manual Chronograph British Racing Green, is the embodiment of Depancel's philosophy. Contemporary in its finish and reliability, powered by the Seagull ST1901 manual-winding chronograph movement, assembled by our French watchmakers and offering a comfortable 45-hour power reserve.

    MANUAL-WINDING CHRONOGRAPH

Equipped with a hand-wound Seagull ST1901 movement meticulously adjusted by our French watchmakers, this movement finds its inspiration in the legendary Swiss Venus 175 movement (manufactured until the 60s).

One of its distinctive elements is the emblematic column wheel, which manages the various chronograph functions, acting as the true gearbox of this caliber. This movement is characterized by its reliability, meticulous finishing and comfortable 45-hour power reserve.

    Specific “mono-eye” dial

To ensure easy instant readability of the indications, especially when driving, the sub-counters are in different colors, consistent with the dial colors while playing on contrasting effects. Ideally positioned at three o'clock, the chronograph minute counter is black with yellow indications, while the small seconds counter at nine o'clock is 'English Green' with white markings. The applied hands and hour-markers feature faceted and SLN (Super-LumiNova) finishes with a slightly aged tint, evoking the radium aesthetics of yesteryear to reinforce its vintage look. The dial also features two scales: a pulsometer to measure the rider's heartbeat, extending to 150 beats per minute and shifting to the red zone near 200 beats per minute, and a tachometer calibrated from 0 to 240 km/h.

    BACK TO BASICS

This chronograph, designed for drivers and motor sports enthusiasts, comes in a 39mm-diameter stainless steel case. A meaningful dimension, since it perfectly evokes the spirit of the sports chronograph adopted by drivers in the 60s and 70s. It's all about the details. Looking at the dial, it's obvious that every attribute has been thought out to illustrate the philosophy of this sporty watch, evoking the golden age of competition. A time of daring and recklessness, creativity, discovery and experimentation. The automobile was a symbol of freedom. In the face of danger, drivers showed great courage. As Jackie Stewart, one of the greatest F1 drivers, so aptly summed up: “It was a time when sex was safe and motor racing was dangerous.”

The famous “English green”, brg for those in the know

Green? Yes, because it's the traditional racing color of British cars, the famous “British Racing Green”, whose origins go back to the Gordon-Bennett Cup. Founded in 1899, this new type of motor racing competition, inaugurated in France, sees drivers compete under their national colors. For the 1903 edition, held in Ireland, the British team adopted the traditional green color of the host country, “Shamrock Green”, and from 1905 onwards the national colors became official and were used until the Second World War. The British Racing Green “BRG” for connoisseurs remained the most common, though not compulsory, shade for British competitors until the late 1960s.
